Description

Alcohol and other drug (AOD) use research is an important area in India, however it is under-researched. Substance abuse has always been viewed as a "male problem," obscuring the issues faced by female users. Although it is widely accepted that men are more likely than women to abuse substances, it is important to recognize that it is a significant public health issue in women as well. The characteristics of women substance abusers are significantly different than their male counterparts. Women's social implications, disadvantages, and subjugation, on one hand, and rapid socio-cultural and economic advancements, on the other, have had a huge impact on women, resulting in addiction.
