Study of the Methodology and Metrics Used in Machine Learning for Optomechatronic Problem Solving

This work originates from the concern of knowing some concepts of this branch of artificial intelligence, which seeks to provide learning capabilities to machines, the so-called machine learning. In order to put into practice and learn these concepts, a case study was taken, for example, a star identifier. Throughout this thesis, terms from these disciplines of computer science are found, such as types of learning, focusing on the supervised type, its models, functions, and metrics. Applied, with the objective of recognizing a group of stars, captured in an image of the celestial vault. One of many star navigation systems, are cameras that take photographs of the firmament to orient, for example, a satellite in their orbit. They work by using a data base with all the information from a catalog of celestial locations and comparing it with the information captured by the camera.
