Description

Tree growing is an important intervention in climate change mitigation due to the high carbon sequestration potential of trees. It is widely accepted that working in groups accelerates tree planting due to the ease with which important resources like seeds/seedlings and skills are acquired. However, this claim lacks comprehensive evidence. In this study, we assessed the contribution of tree planting groups (TPGs) to tree planting, retention, knowledge dissemination, and on-farm tree management practices in Kaliro District, Uganda. The study used a cross-sectional research design and collected both qualitative and quantitative data. Data collection methods used were Key informant interviews, household surveys, and Field observations.
