H.B. Pavithra

Dr.H.B.Pavithra Sandani is a lecturer and a researcher attached to the Open University of Sri Lanka. She works on Plant disease biological control using microorganisms. She has obtained her B.Sc. (Honours) and PhD from the Ruhuna University of Sri Lanka. Microbiology is a field she has specialized since her B.Sc. She could strengthen her horizons in the field of Microbiology during her PhD carrier. She is focusing on crop protection using microorganisms which is an advanced application of Microbiology. She has studied a lot about microorganisms including the growth curves, optimum culture conditions, secondary metabolites production, isolation of secondary metabolites with certain properties, characterization of secondary metabolites and how plant pathogens can be mitigated using beneficial microorganisms.
