This book documents the complete intellectual journey starting from a deceptively simple equation m+n=0 and evolving it into a precise, experimentally verified physical law that governs the relationship between particles and their antiparticles. The original intuition was that when matter and antimatter meet, they completely cancel each other out, leaving nothing behind. However, this naive interpretation conflicts with Einstein's famous equation E=mc^2E, which tells us that mass converts to energy rather than disappearing into nothingness. Through systematic analysis and multiple experimental tests, we discover that the original idea was correct in spirit but required a fundamental clarification. The key insight is the crucial distinction between two fundamentally different types of physical properties. Additive quantum numbers—such as electric charge, baryon number, lepton number, and flavor quantum numbers—truly cancel to zero when a particle meets its antiparticle. In contrast, non-additive properties—including mass, spin magnitude, and lifetime—remain equal in magnitude between particle and antiparticle; they do not cancel but rather add together. The book provides extensive experimental verification across multiple particle types: the electron-positron pair, the proton-antiproton pair, the neutron-antineutron pair, the neutrino-antineutrino pair, and neutral particles like the photon and neutral pion that are their own antiparticles (Majorana particles). Furthermore, the book demonstrates real-world technological applications of this principle, including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) medical imaging, antiproton production at CERN, dark matter detection through cosmic ray observations.
