This book presents four research papers, the first three based on the APOS Theory framework and the last one on the type of problems that need to be formulated to aid the development of mental structures for students. It is an attempt to illustrate how APOS Theory could give insight into the development of mental structures during the teaching and learning of some undergraduate mathematics concepts/topics; namely the derivative, integration and solving a system of linear equations. The published papers that follow in this book are based on the author’s understanding of what APOS Theory is, how it could be used as a theoretical framework to guide research into a better understanding of how mental structures could probably develop during the teaching and learning of mathematics concepts.
