With the title the Role of MSMEs in Achieving SDGs in Developing Economies. The case of Indonesia, this book based on a series of research highlights the current development of micro-small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Although the focus is on Indonesia, for certain aspects this book also covers current development of MSMEs in some other countries in the Asia Pacific region, as a regional comparison. It explains the development of MSMEs from various theoretical perspectives, and examines empirically some important related issues, such as their growth or performance in times of economic crises (i.e. the Asian financial crisis 1997/98, the 2008/09 global financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic crisis); their role in economic development especially with respect to their contributions to the generation of jobs or employment opportunities, gross domestic product (GDP) and export growth; challenges and constraints of women entrepreneurship; their access to formal sources of financing and the importance of financial technology especially Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending; development constraints facing MSMEs; their adoption of internet for marketing their products (e-commerce) in the context of digital transformation; and their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
