Todays era is the era of science and Technology with newer discoveries. Physical work is replaced by mental work, this has given birth to various lifestyle diseases. Fast foods, lack of exercise, irregular sleep, psychological stress contributes in imparing the metabolism of an individual which has given rise to lifestyle disorders like Diabetes, Hyperlipidaemia, Coronary artery diseases,etc. Hyperlipidaemia is one among such disorder which is a potential risk factor for multitudes of diseases like metabolic syndrome, Hypertension,CAD,etc.
In Ayurvedic texts many scattered descriptions regarding Hyperlipidaemia is mentioned.
Many research works were carried out in evaluating the Lipid lowering effects of plant based formulations and found potential effectiveness in the management of Hyperlipidaemia.
