Previously, few studies have measured the morphological characteristics of dental arches in the young population of southern Gansu. First, this study focused on the measurement study of the dental arch morphology of young people in the region. It can provide guidance and reference for dental clinical treatment in the region, for example, by referring to the size range of arch lengths and widths of young people in the region, it can serve as a reference for the treatment design of patients with dental and maxillofacial injuries, and also reduce the obstruction of oral and maxillofacial surgeons who do not have a reference range in clinical treatment. In addition, due to the phylogenetic and social division of labor, there are significant anatomical and physiological differences between man and woman, and this study also focuses on the gender differences in the dental arch morphology of young people in the region, with a view to providing some assistance to the dental clinical work in the region. Finally, in this study, the measurement results were compared and analyzed with those of dental arch morphology data from other regions of China, such as Chongqing, Guangxi, Liaoning, Tibet and Xi'an. This study found that the dental arch morphology in southern Gansu is specific to other provinces, and the specific mechanism needs to be further explored.
