Descripción

Brief theoretical knowledge about internal waves in the ocean are given. The results of instrumental measurements carried out by the author in 1996-2019 on the Mexican shelf of the Pacific Ocean are discussed. They covered the zone from the northernmost point, near the border with the United States of America, to the southern margin of the Mexican shelf. In general, marine measurements were carried out in the mooring from small vessels or ocean-going boats using modern high-precision meters: thermographs, CTD-profilers and ADCPs, which were used both at mooring and in their towing mode. To analyze the time series and fields of hydrometeorological characteristics obtained on moorings, linear and nonlinear spectral analysis was used and also hydrodinamik modeling. The interpretation of the obtained measurement results was carried out using the theory of linear and nonlinear internal waves. Particular attention in the work was devoted to the study of internal waves in the Gulf of California, in the Midriff Archipelago Region and in the Tiburon area.
