Hiram

Hiram Calvo obtained the Master of Sciences degree of Computing Science and Engineering at the National Autonomous University (UNAM), then he obtained a PhD from the Center for Computing Research (CIC) of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexico. His thesis was on the Spanish syntax analyzer DILUCT. He was awarded with the Lázaro Cárdenas Prize handed by the president of Mexico in 2006. Calvo did a post-doctoral stay at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan from 2008 to 2010. His research interests are Computational Linguistics, Lexical Semantics, Machine Learning and Cognitive Sciences. He is author of more than 100 publications in the area. He is a member of the National System of Researchers, level II. Currently he is a full time research professor and headmaster of CIC-IPN, and president of the Mexican Association for Natural Language Processing (AMPLN).
