Since 1989, the mean research interests of Dr. Roggen have been novel approach methodologies (NAMs) for improving human health and safety in compliance with the European Green Deal initiative. He is founder of 3Rs Management and Consulting, a non-profit initiative aiming at driving the application of NAMs, and co-founder of SenzaGen and ToxGenSolutions both providing human relevant NAMs for assessing the sensitizing and neurotoxic potential of chemicals. Specific for ToxGenSolutions is that it also provides industry with human relevant peripheral biomarker-based tools for preventive medicine covering key processes of neurodegeneration, immunosuppression and carcinogenesis that are affected by environmental and systemic risk factors. He is active in several national, European and global organizations aiming at the replacement of animal experiments with animal-freemethods such as NAMs.
