Simon Fels is an automotive engineering expert, who is a consultant at MHP - A Porsche Company. At Porsche AG, he gained experience in the R&D department as well as in the management of products and services strategy. He graduated in Automotive Engineering and Management (M.Sc.) at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. His publications on fluid-structure interactions are based on his bachelor thesis at the University of Portsmouth, Great Britain, whilst graduating in Automotive Engineering (B.Sc.) at the University of Siegen, Germany. In his bachelor thesis, he pioneered a scientific investigation into the concept of a rigid, spring-loaded wing subjected to freestream airflow. He developed the experimental setup and spent over 50 hours in the wind tunnel in Portsmouth. His award-winning bachelors project formed the start of a series of academic studies in subsequent years.
