The first chapter of the thesis focused on the introduction, background of the studies, statement of the problem, objectives, and significance of the study. Chapter 2 was devoted to the history and epidemiology of the disease and a review of the related works. Chapter 3 was devoted to the definitions and analyses of all the mathematical tools or techniques used in this thesis. In Chapter 4, a classical Susceptible-Exposed-Asymptomatic-Symptomatic-Vaccinated-Recovered (SEAQVR) model was used to study the COVID-19 in Ghana. Time-dependent optimal controls were incorporated into the model. Furthermore, the model was extended to include a quarantine compartment, and a fractional-order derivative was used to study the transmission of the disease.
