This book grew out of the author’s lecture notes for the course Introduction to Renewable Energy Sources, taught to undergraduate engineering students. In preparing it for publication, the notes have been reorganised and expanded into a complete textbook. The text has been rewritten and the arguments developed in depth, the physical principles are derived, every chapter includes worked numerical examples and original diagrams, and the data on installed capacity and cost have been updated to 2026. New chapters have been added on solar radiation geometry, photovoltaic system design, energy storage and smart grids, and a chapter on hydropower and geothermal energy completes the coverage of resources.
