Phosphate rock is the principal source of natural phosphorus and phosphate which is available as a natural ore in different areas with different compositions. It has extensive use in the manufacturing of elemental phosphorus and phosphate derivatives. Application as a raw material for the manufacturing of phosphate fertilizer and phosphoric acid is the principal consumption route. Phosphate rock reserves are distributed all over the world with different compositions and quality indexes. Morocco and China have world largest reserves of mineral phosphate and it was estimated in 2021 that there are more than 50 billion metric tons of natural reserve in Morocco and 3.2 billion metric tons in China. The fertilizer demand for phosphate rock is increasing year by year.
