Salinization is an environmental issue that affects many aspects of life, including changing the chemical components of hydrological systems such as lakes, rivers, and groundwater, reducing the availability and quality of water supply to the irrigation and domestic sectors, contributing to species extinction, declining soil fertility, and climate change. Understanding the causes of salinization, as well as adaptation and mitigation strategies, is critical for preventing further degradation of water and land resources. As a result, the current book focuses on the concept of salinity and the major factors responsible for the degradation of hydrological systems.
