Description

In oil and gas industry, hoisting drum winch is essential piece of equipment for the drilling and service rigs. Large diameter hoisting split drum winch has a wide applications for wireline equipment but with limited structure design study and high failure rate due to amount force exerting on its barrel core and flanges. A better new structure design study for a large diameter split drum winch is exploited and a Finite Element Analysis-FEA is also conducted to guide welding, machining, and manufacturing. Experimental and oilfield operational results show that the new structure design for the split drum winch provides good results. In traditional energy industry, oilfield drilling rig structures is center part of oil and gas exploration. Different types of rig derrick and mast structures, differences and similarities, and the design codes and standards have discussed. Detailed engineering calculations, and Finite Element Analysis-FEA for a land rig mast structure are studied based on codes, standards, and engineering literatures. Finally, energy equipment engineering design challenges, manufacturing recommendations, innovative approaches with Finite Element Analysis are revealed. The book also presents overall review about the green , sustainable, and alternative energy. After comparisons of all energy sources, it concludes that the best of all energy sources is the human power energy source because it is green, clean, sustainable, and renewable with no environmental impact and low overall cost. A brief discussion about the new developments, future challenges, and possible integrated solutions of the human powered machine, tools and their applications are presented.
