Description

Cardiovascular complications and diastolic dysfunction of left ventricular (LV) are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The aim of this study was to define and quantify the impact of LV diastolic dysfunction in the patients with CKD on the development of major cardiovascular events (MACE) (congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, unstable angina pectoris, acute coronary syndrome - myocardial infarction with or without ST elevation, and cerebrovascular stroke). The investigation was conducted as an observational, prospective study that enrolled the group of patients with LV diastolic dysfunction and CKD (stage III and IV) and the control group of patients with LV diastolic dysfunction but without CKD. All patients underwent anamnesis, appropriate laboratory and physical examinations.
