The main aim of the book is to include practical approaches to the study of the interactions of human platelets with pathogenic bacteria. Bacteria can enter the bloodstream and secrete diverse of their extracellular proteins and toxins. These extracellular proteins and toxins play important roles in the pathogenesis of bacteria through interaction with circulating blood cells such as platelets, which are a major part of the circulating blood cell repertoire. Platelet activation or inhibition by bacteria is considered one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in many societies. Hence, this book brings currently developed techniques to afford a comprehensive guide for investigators to the study of the interactions of human platelets with bacteria.
